Howcast: How to make a Day of the Dead altar. Pretend you have died, and your family has decided to construct a Mexican-style altar to celebrate your memory on Día de los Muertos. Draw an altar and the traditional symbolic objects we discussed in class, then describe each of the items on the altar, and why they are significant. This is a test grade for the written portion, so use everything you can think of that fits the following categories:
- Introduce and describe yourself. Include the phrase "Soy muerto/muerta".
- Describe the symbols of Día de los Muertos (see the photo of the whiteboard for reference)
- Describe the "favorite things" you selected for the altar. Use variations on "me gusta" and similar phrases to explain what the things are and why you chose them.
