Wed. Oct 28:
     *WEEK 9-C: MINI PROJECT - Make your own Día de los Muertos altar, la ofrenda, commemorating your own life:
      Howcast: How to make a Day of the Dead altar. Pretend you have died, and your family has decided to construct a Mexican-style altar to celebrate your memory on Día de los Muertos. Draw an altar and the traditional symbolic objects we discussed in class, then describe each of the  items on the altar, and why they are significant. This is a test grade for the written portion, so use everything you can think of that fits the following categories:
  1. Introduce and describe yourself. Include the phrase "Soy muerto/muerta".
  2. Describe the symbols of Día de los Muertos (see the photo of the whiteboard for reference)
  3. Describe the "favorite things" you selected for the altar. Use variations on "me gusta" and similar phrases to explain what the things are and why you chose them.

     Continue working on Día de los Muertos mini-project

     *WEEK 8-D: Warmup - Numbers determined by random dice roll
     *WEEK 8-E: Sentences from "Mini Film Festival"

Thurs. Oct 22:
     NOTICE: Mr. Garnet will not be in class Thurs-Fri., as he will be chaperoning an AVID field trip for Grades 10-11
     *WEEK 8-F: In-class activity with Substitute, worth double points (10 points per day):
      Instructions: First, be on your best behavior for the sub!!!!! Bad behavior will be punished, good behavior rewarded!!!!!
      Start a new page, this will be turned in to the lockbox at the end of class.
      At least once every five minutes, write a sentence in Spanish that describes what is going on in the movie at the moment.
      Sentences should be at or above the level used on the 5-panel story activity from Tuesday.
      Remember, I've seen this movie plenty of times, and can tell immediately if you aren't describing the movie, so pay attention!
      NOTES DUE AT THE END OF CLASS!!!!
